Overview

Trentino-Alto Adige is Italy's northernmost wine region, a breathtaking alpine landscape where vineyards climb steep valley slopes beneath snow-capped Dolomite peaks. It is actually two distinct provinces - Italian-speaking Trentino and German-speaking Alto Adige (Südtirol) - united by a shared commitment to quality and precision.

Alto Adige, in particular, is renowned as one of the world's finest regions for white wines. Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Bianco achieve remarkable clarity and expression here, thanks to high altitudes, wide diurnal temperature swings, and mineral-rich soils. The region's co-operative wineries are among the most advanced in Italy, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology.

Trentino contributes Italy's largest production of traditional-method sparkling wine through Trento DOC, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Meanwhile, both provinces produce elegant reds from Pinot Noir, Lagrein, and Schiava, proving that this alpine region is far more than a white wine paradise.
