Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

WineryDB is a global winery directory. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to winerydb.com and to our related apps and services.

Who we are

WineryDB [TO CONFIRM: legal entity name] operates the WineryDB directory at winerydb.com. For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact us at hello@winerydb.com.

What we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider Clerk collects your email address and name, and manages your sign-in credentials on our behalf.
  • Winery and listing information.Business details, descriptions, photos, tasting information, and contact details you provide when you add, claim, or edit a winery listing.
  • Mailing list. Your email address if you join our mailing list, for example on the offers page.
  • Payment information. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Support messages. The contents of support tickets and messages you send us.
  • Saved items. The wineries you save or like while signed in.
  • Technical data. Standard hosting logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected by our hosting provider Cloudflare.
  • Preferences. Small values stored in your browser's local storage, such as dismissing an announcement.

How we use it

  • Operate the directory, your account, and winery listings.
  • Review winery accounts, claims, and submissions.
  • Process purchases and deliver paid features.
  • Send service emails, and send marketing emails only where you have asked for them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • Meet legal obligations.

Public directory data

Winery listings are public by design. Much of the directory is compiled from public sources such as government and appellation registers, OpenStreetMap, and Wikidata, alongside information submitted by wineries and the public. If you claim or edit a listing, the business information you publish on it is visible to everyone.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of processors to run the service: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, and file storage), Neon (database), and Google (fonts and the map embeds shown on some winery pages). These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

Cookies and local storage

We use only what is needed to run the site: sign-in session cookies from Clerk, payment security cookies from Stripe, and browser local storage for preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep account data while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to meet legal, tax, or dispute obligations. Public listing data that came from public sources may remain in the directory.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Winery owners can edit most listing details directly from their dashboard. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional statutory rights. To exercise any of these, email hello@winerydb.com.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to what is needed to operate the service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.

International transfers

Our providers process data in multiple countries, including the United States. By using WineryDB you understand that your information may be processed outside your country of residence.

Children

WineryDB is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a revised date. Material changes will be signposted on the site before they take effect.
