Sweden is one of Europe's northernmost wine experiments, with a handful of vineyards in the southern counties of Skåne and Blekinge. The cool climate and short growing season make grape ripening difficult, so growers often use hybrid varieties bred for cold resistance.

Production is tiny, and Swedish wine is still a novelty rather than an established category. Most local wine-like beverages are made from apples, berries, or other fruits, reflecting the country's strong cider and spirits traditions.
