Blekinge

Overview

Blekinge occupies the southeastern corner of Sweden, facing the Baltic Sea and its island archipelago. The region's long coastline and island microclimates create pockets that are milder than the inland, making grape growing possible on a small scale. Stora Boråkra near Karlskrona is the largest vineyard in the province, while Stora Horns Vingård on Hasslö benefits from a sunny island setting.

Most plantings are Solaris, used for white, sparkling, and rosé wines, but growers also experiment with red hybrids and small amounts of berry wines. The short history of commercial viticulture here, combined with a strong local food and maritime culture, gives Blekinge an exploratory, community-driven wine scene.
