Lithuania

Lithuania sits on the northern edge of European viticulture, where the climate is barely warm enough for ripening grapes. A small number of passionate growers are experimenting with cold-hardy hybrids and innovative techniques in the southern part of the country.

Wine output remains tiny, and much of it is fruit-based or made from hybrid varieties. Lithuania is not yet a wine destination, but its growers represent the expanding ambition of northern European viticulture.
