Finland

Finland is among the most challenging places on Earth for grape cultivation, with long, dark winters and a growing season measured in weeks. As a result, commercial grape wine production is virtually nonexistent, and most local wine-like products are made from berries.

A handful of experimental growers are testing cold-hardy hybrids in southern Finland, but output is minuscule. For visitors, Finnish wine remains a novelty, best enjoyed alongside the country's celebrated food, saunas, and natural landscapes.
