Slovácko

Overview

The Slovácko wine sub-region covers eastern South Moravia along the Morava River, bordering Slovakia and Austria. The terrain is highly diverse, ranging from the river valley to the rolling hills of the Bílé Karpaty mountains and the Chřiby and Ždánický Forest uplands. This diversity produces a wide range of wine styles.

Whites such as Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Grüner Veltliner dominate, while reds including Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and Cabernet Moravia are increasingly important. The region is also known for its historic wine cellars in villages such as Plže, where traditional wine culture remains strong.
