Overview

A handful of pioneering projects have planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Chardonnay in protected mountain pockets and near resort towns. Production is tiny, but the region symbolizes the ambition of Egyptian growers to push viticulture beyond the Nile Valley.
