Nile Delta

Overview

The Nile Delta is Egypt's most fertile region, a broad green fan where the Nile splits into branches before reaching the Mediterranean. Vineyards here rely on the river's irrigation to survive the hot, dry summers, with plantings concentrated on sandy loam soils between cotton and citrus fields.

The delta has become the center of Egypt's modern wine revival, producing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Chardonnay for both local consumption and export. Wineries such as Domaine de Gianacalis and Jardin du Nil source grapes from the Khatatba area and other delta sites, crafting wines that balance ripeness with freshness.
