Overview
Midlands Province sits at the center of Zimbabwe's highveld watershed, mostly between 900 and 1,400 meters above sea level. It is a transitional zone between the wetter east and the drier west, with a warm subtropical climate, a single rainy season, and widespread fersiallitic soils derived from granite and greenstone.
Rainfall is moderate and mid-season dry spells are common, so vineyards would need careful water management and site selection. The province's mix of plateau farms and mining towns gives it an emerging, experimental feel, and moderate temperatures suit a range of warm-climate varieties when growers irrigate during dry spells.
