Overview
Limarí Valley sits in the Coquimbo Region, about 470 kilometers north of Santiago. The Pacific Ocean's Humboldt Current draws cool morning fog, known locally as camanchaca, into the valley, moderating the otherwise hot, semi-arid climate. Limestone-rich soils add a distinctive mineral character to the wines.
The region has become one of Chile's most exciting sources of cool-climate Chardonnay, along with Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. Tabalí, Viña Casablanca, and Falernia are among the producers that have helped define Limarí's elegant, mineral-driven style.
Key Varietals
- ChardonnayA lean, mineral white often compared to Chablis for its saline freshness.
- Pinot NoirA delicate, red-fruit red from the valley's coolest coastal sites.
- SyrahA peppery, medium-bodied red that combines ripeness with freshness.
- Sauvignon BlancA zesty, herbaceous white with crisp acidity.
