Overview
Lafões is a small Indicação de Proveniência Regulamentada nestled just north of the Dão in north-central Portugal. Its mountainous landscape and granite soils create a cool, continental climate that preserves acidity and produces fresh, bright wines. Production is limited, with only a handful of growers.
Red wines are based on Amaral and Jaen, giving light to medium-bodied, fragrant reds, while whites are made from Arinto, Cerceal, and Rabo de Ovelha. Lafões wines share Dão's granite elegance but tend toward a lighter, more delicate expression.
