Grombalia

Overview

Grombalia sits in the southwestern corner of the Cap Bon Peninsula, often called Tunisia's wine-growing capital. The basin stretches between the Gulf of Tunis to the north and the Hammamet plain to the south, framed by low mountains and ephemeral wadis. Mixed farming dominates the landscape, with citrus orchards, cereals, and vineyards interwoven across Quaternary plains.

The climate is semi-arid Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers, mild wet winters, and highly irregular rainfall. Sandy, sandstone, and clayey-sand soils overlie a multi-layered aquifer that supports irrigation. Both historic and newly improved varieties thrive here, yielding robust reds, crisp rosés, and small volumes of aromatic whites.
