Overview
Côtes de Sambre et Meuse became Wallonia's first protected wine appellation in 2004. The production area follows the catchment of the Meuse and Sambre rivers, with vineyards planted on hillsides that catch southern sun and benefit from warmth reflected off the water. The bedrock mixes limestone, shale, and clay, giving the wines a firm mineral backbone.
Around thirty growers farm roughly thirty hectares across eight sub-basins, including the valleys of the Ourthe, Amblève, Semois, and Lesse. Authorized grapes range from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Auxerrois to Gamay, Merlot, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, and Müller-Thurgau, producing still whites, reds, and traditional-method sparkling wines.

- Pinot NoirA light, elegant red with bright acidity and red cherry notes.

- AuxerroisA soft, rounded white often blended into the region's easy-drinking cuvées.
