Overview
The Awash region takes its name from the river that flows through central Ethiopia toward the lowlands of the Afar Triangle. Here, at elevations around 1,200 meters, Awash Winery has operated for decades as the country's oldest commercial winery, producing large volumes of red, white, and rosé wines for the domestic market.
Awash's wines are widely available across Ethiopia and represent the everyday face of Ethiopian viticulture. The estate grows a mix of international varieties and supports a broader supply chain of local grape growers, making it a cornerstone of the national wine trade.
