Japan's wine industry is small but rapidly improving, with a focus on precision, elegance, and cool-climate expression. The Yamanashi Prefecture, near Mount Fuji, is the historical heart of production, where the indigenous Koshu grape has been cultivated for more than a thousand years.

Koshu produces delicate, pale, citrus-scented whites that pair beautifully with Japanese cuisine. In recent years, Japanese winemakers have also gained recognition for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Merlot, applying meticulous attention to detail in both vineyard and cellar.
