Estonia is one of the northernmost countries attempting commercial viticulture, with a climate that hovers at the edge of possibility. The short growing season and harsh winters mean that grape growing is experimental and often relies on cold-hardy hybrids.
Wine production is tiny, and much of it centers on fruit wines, berry wines, and small-scale vineyard projects near the Baltic Sea. For now, Estonia is a curiosity for wine travelers rather than a established wine destination.
