About the Winery

Companhia dos Profetas e Viloes is a unique wine project led by Antonio Macanita and Madeiran restaurateur Nuno Faria, celebrating the wine traditions of Porto Santo and Madeira islands. The company produces wines from indigenous varieties grown on both islands, including Listrao dos Profetas from old vineyards over 80 years old on calcareous soils and Sercial dos Viloes from volcanic soils on Madeira's north coast. The playful name references the historic rivalry between Porto Santo residents, called Prophets, and Madeirans, called Villains.
