About the Winery

J. Faria & Filhos operates Engenhos do Norte, located in Porto da Cruz on the north coast of Madeira Island, and was established in 1927. While primarily known as a rum distillery using traditional steam-powered machinery, the company also produces Madeira wine under the DOC Madeira designation. Visitors can tour the historic distillery and learn about traditional rum and wine production methods that have been preserved for nearly a century.
