About the Winery

Casa da Passarella is a historic winery founded in 1892 in Lagarinhos, Gouveia, in the Dão region, establishing itself as one of the pioneers of modern winemaking in the region even before Dão was officially demarcated in the early 20th century. The estate currently encompasses approximately 100 hectares with 55 hectares of vines divided among seven distinct vineyard parcels, cultivating indigenous varieties including Encruzado, Malvasia Fina, and Verdelho for whites, and Touriga Nacional, Jaen, Alfrocheiro, and Tinta Roriz for reds on granite soils at 400 to 600 meters altitude. After a period of decline during the 20th century, the estate was revitalized in the early 2000s and now produces wines that highlight the character of old vines and the Dão terroir, with guided tours available by appointment at the historic property.
