Beira Serra Vinhos
About the Winery
Beira Serra Vinhos was founded in 1956 in Vila Franca das Naves, Trancoso, in Portugal's Beira Interior region, and operates as a cooperative with a distinctive roof of adjoining barrel vaults that exemplifies mid-20th-century architecture. The cooperative produces wines from high-altitude vineyards ranging from 400 to 750 meters, working with regional grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Rufete, Marufo, Alfrocheiro, Síria, Fonte Cal, and Malvasia to craft red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. The wines are marketed under labels including Beira Serra, Portas d'El Rei, Terras de Bandarra, and premium brands Bodas Reais, Boa Pergunta, and Óptima Pergunta, with the cooperative receiving approximately three to four million kilograms of grapes annually from member growers.
