About the Winery

Caves da Murganheira was founded in 1947 in Ucanha, Tarouca, in the Távora-Varosa region of northern Portugal, and is one of the country's most renowned sparkling wine producers with cellars carved into blue granite rock reaching depths of 72 meters. The winery uses both Portuguese and international grape varieties including Malvasia Fina, Gouveio Real, Cerceal, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir to produce sparkling wines by the méthode champenoise with approximately one million bottles produced annually. Guided tours and tastings are available Tuesday through Saturday at scheduled morning and afternoon times, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the unique granite cellars and taste the estate's acclaimed sparkling wines.
