Amilcar Salgado is a winemaker based in the Chaves sub-region of Tras-os-Montes, associated with Quinta do Monteverde, working with old vineyard plots and bush vines in a region with strong viticultural traditions. The area around Ribeira de Oura has been an epicenter of winemaking since Roman times, as evidenced by the numerous ancient lagares rupestres carved in granite.
