About the Winery

Quinta do Monte Xisto is located in the Douro Superior sub-region in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, on the left bank of the Douro River. The Nicolau de Almeida family, one of the Douro's most distinguished winemaking families, established the estate in 2005. The 40-hectare property has 10 hectares of vines planted to Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Sousão, with the vineyard farmed using organic and biodynamic principles.
