About the Winery

Vivac (vee-vok), a mountaineering word meaning "high altitude refuge," is a family-owned winery and tasting room in Dixon, New Mexico, nestled at 6,200 feet. One of the highest altitude wineries in the world, it was established in 1998 by brothers Chris and Jesse Padberg and their wives Michele and Liliana. All four are certified sommeliers. They produce internationally award-winning, old-world style wines using organic, cool-climate farming methods. Certified New Mexico True, one of the only wineries in the world successfully growing vinifera grapes at this altitude. Gluten-free and vegan wines. Also features 14 craft beers on tap, handmade chocolates, and gourmet picnic items.

Tasting Room

Open seven days a week, year-round. Spring/Summer/Fall: Sun-Fri 11am-7pm, Sat 11am-8pm. Winter: Daily 11am-6pm. Offers wine tastings, live music Saturdays, Karaoke Fridays, and hosts the Dixon Farmers Market in the fall. Dog-friendly patio with vineyard views.
