Robert F. Pliska & Company Winery
About the Winery
Nestled in the foothills between the Appalachian and Allegheny mountains in the southwestern corner of Hampshire County. The 160-acre winery grows French-American hybrid grapes on shale slopes. Most wines are created for the mature wine palate, very dry to expose the true character of WV grapes. Assumption and Mountain Mama (an apple wine) served at cool room temperature. Also produces Ridge Runner Red and Ridge Runner Gold semi-dry table wines. A portion of proceeds benefits Homes for the Mentally Handicapped, Ltd, an IRS tax-exempt organization. Wine is developed in air-tight stainless steel tanks using old country techniques.
