About the Winery
Pelle Legna Vineyards and Winery was a respected winery located near Tyler, Texas, owned by Dawn and Harry Leatherwood. The name Pelle Legna is Italian for 'leather wood,' their last name. On their 1,500-acre cattle ranch, Rio Neches Ranch, Dawn first planted 8 acres of vineyard in 2007, eventually growing to 9.5 acres. They grew classic Vitis vinifera vines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Mourvedre, Malbec, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Petite Sirah, and Muscat. All wines were made from 100% estate grown grapes. In 2025, the property was purchased by Sydney and Mason Dacus and renamed Rio Neches Estate Winery.

Tasting Room
Tastings were by appointment only at the winery near Tyler. Third Saturday of every month was Festa, a special event. The winery has now been renamed Rio Neches Estate Winery under new ownership.
