About the Winery

Old Man Scary Cellars is a family owned and operated boutique winery located in a refurbished 1924 historic building in downtown San Saba, Texas. An incubator winery originally partnered with Wedding Oak Winery, the tasting room features a relaxed modern sophistication with a unique theme inspired by a local urban legend. The name came from the Hisel family's youngest son who dubbed an old farmhouse 'Old Man Scary's' and wove tales about the character. The tasting room features Star Wars art, rattlesnake motifs (from their Rattlesnake Road Vineyard), and unique decorative pourers. Wines include a young Dolcetto from Texas fruit and a 100% San Saba County grown Viognier. The 2015 semi-sweet Big Time won Grand Reserve at the San Antonio Rodeo.
