Elk Island Winery is a family-owned boutique farm winery on Lower Byrd Farm in Goochland, Virginia, which opened in 2012. Named for the 1300-acre island in the James River originally part of Thomas Jeffersons Elk Hill farm adjacent to their property. Their six acres of vineyards are planted in Norton, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Albarino, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Merlot, and Sagrantino along with other small plantings. 90% of grapes are grown in Goochland. Specializes in Norton and vinifera varietals. Tasting room open weekends Sat-Sun Noon-6pm with a large deck and screened porch.

Tasting room open every weekend, Saturday and Sunday Noon to 6pm. Flights are $12 for any combination of 4 two-ounce pours. Logo wine glass available for $3. Groups of 10+ please make arrangements in advance. Enjoy the large deck and screened porch. Snacks available or bring your own picnic. Open other times by appointment. Also participates in local festivals.
