Champoeg Wine Cellars
About the Winery
Champoeg Wine Cellars is located southwest of Portland in the historical Champoeg State Park region of the north Willamette River Valley. Established in 1990 and opening to the public in 1992, their ambition is to produce premium Oregon wines at everyday affordable prices. The vineyard was planted in 1974 on an old volcanic butte known as La Butte, with southern exposure providing warmth and sunlight. The name Champoeg is derived from French and Kalapuyan Indian languages meaning the field of the camas roots. Also known as Domaine Mathiot at Champoeg Estate Vineyard.
