About the Winery

Boxwood Estate Winery is the fulfillment of a long-held dream by proprietor John Kent Cooke, former owner and president of the NFL Washington Redskins. Located in the Middleburg AVA, Boxwood worked for seven years with the USDA to establish the Middleburg American Viticultural Area in 2012. The sustainable vineyards occupy 26.5 acres planted with traditional Bordeaux varietals. The winery building is an award-winning design by Hugh Jacobsen.
