About the Winery
Bear Creek Winery is a family-owned winery in south Fargo, founded in 2003 by Rod and Sue Ballinger. They have 80+ cold-climate grape varieties planted on-site used for wine production and research with the goal of discovering the next best Midwest grape variety. They work with University of Minnesota and NDSU on grape breeding technologies. Bear Creek crafts wines using innovative cold-climate grape varieties. Rod Ballinger is a co-founder and president of the Winery Association of North Dakota.
