About the Winery

Cantina Kaltern is one of Alto Adige's most renowned wine cooperatives, founded in 1900 from the merger of five smaller cooperatives, now uniting approximately 520-590 winegrowing families cultivating 430-440 hectares around Lake Caldaro. The cooperative produces around 4 million bottles annually, with a portfolio ranging from fresh everyday wines to acclaimed premium lines including Quintessenz, Stern Sauvignon, and Campaner Riserva, and was the first Italian wine producer to receive FAIR 'N GREEN sustainability certification. Their wines especially Schiava (Lago di Caldaro) reflect the unique microclimate of Lake Caldaro with its combination of alpine and Mediterranean influences.
