About the Winery
Podere Ciona is a boutique winery and agriturismo near Gaiole in Chianti, owned by Franca and Franco Gatteschi with their son Lorenzo, perched at an altitude of 490-625 meters above sea level on a hilltop overlooking the Chianti Classico region. The estate's south-facing vines cover just 5 hectares of quartz arenite, schist, and marl soils, producing exceptional Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, a Merlot-based 'Le Diacce' IGT, and small quantities of wine with a maximum of one bottle per plant due to rigorous grape-by-grape selection.
