Passo del Lume Spento is a single-vineyard Brunello di Montalcino produced by Le Ragnaie from Montalcino's highest vineyard at 621 meters above sea level, a designation only recently permitted. Named for the windy conditions that blow out candles ('lights out'), this organically farmed site on sandstone and galestro soils yields a Brunello of striking freshness, mineral tension, and Alpine purity that has earned 97 points from Robert Parker.
