About the Winery
Castello di Romitorio is a 187-hectare estate in Montalcino founded in 1984 by renowned artist Sandro Chia, who restored the property with art and wine created simultaneously, and today comprises three properties including the flagship estate, Poggio di Sopra, and Scansano. Filippo Chia began the estate's second chapter in 2006 with a new cellar and vineyards spanning 200-400 meters altitude, producing Brunello di Montalcino, Riserva, Rosso di Montalcino, and Filo di Seta from Sangiovese with a philosophy of strict adherence to excellence, quality over quantity, and an inseparable connection between fine art and winemaking.
