About the Winery
La Monacesca was established in 1966 by Casimiro Cifola in Matelica, in the province of Macerata, and has become one of the most celebrated producers of Verdicchio di Matelica DOCG wines. The estate, now directed by Aldo Cifola, cultivates over 19 hectares of Verdicchio at 400 meters elevation in the inland Matelica valley, where significant diurnal temperature variations and lean, calcareous soils produce whites of remarkable tension, structure, and aging potential, exemplified by their acclaimed Mirum Riserva.
