About the Winery

Gravner is a legendary family winery in Oslavia, on the border with Slovenia, founded in 1901 and now led by Joško Gravner, widely recognized as the father of the modern amber and orange wine movement. After a crisis of faith with modern winemaking in the 1990s, Gravner famously switched to fermenting his Ribolla Gialla and other white grapes on their skins for months in beeswax-lined Georgian qvevri buried underground, then aging them for six years in large Slavonian oak casks before release, producing approximately 22,000 profoundly complex bottles annually from 18 hectares.
