About the Winery
Villa Matilde is a historic winery founded in the 1960s in Cellole, Caserta, by Francesco Paolo Avallone, who famously revived the ancient Falernum wine celebrated by Virgil and Horace. Today led by his children Salvatore and Maria Ida, the estate spans approximately 130 hectares across multiple properties including Rocca dei Leoni in Sannio and Altavilla in Irpinia, producing around 700,000 bottles annually including Falerno del Massico DOC, Fiano di Avellino DOCG, and Taurasi DOCG.
