About the Winery
Grotta delle Janare is a winery in San Lorenzo Maggiore and Guardia Sanframondi, in the Sannio Beneventano, founded in 2014 by Domenico Grillo from a family with three generations of viticultural tradition. Named after the legendary witches ('janare') of Sannio folklore, the estate crafts wines from hand-selected grapes grown at 450-550 meters elevation across Guardia Sanframondi, Castelvenere, Solopaca, and Telese Terme, producing Falanghina del Sannio DOC, Sannio Greco DOC, and Rosso Beneventano IGT, with their Janare Anima Lavica earning the prestigious Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso.
