About the Winery

Contrade di Taurasi, founded in 1998 by retired Latin professor Sandro Lonardo and his wife Enza, is a small family estate in Paternopoli with five hectares of organically farmed vineyards in the Taurasi DOCG zone. The estate produces exceptional Taurasi DOCG, Irpinia Aglianico, and a rare white wine from Grecomusc', an indigenous variety that Sandro Lonardo single-handedly resurrected from near-extinction, with vines ranging from 70 to over 100 years old, all ungrafted, on volcanic clay soils at 1,300 feet elevation.
