About the Winery
Ciavolich 1853 is the flagship line of Ciavolich winery, one of the oldest winemaking structures in Abruzzo, founded by Francesco Ciavolich in Miglianico in 1853 when the family built their first cellar opposite their residence. The wines in this line represent the pinnacle of the estate's production from their 44 hectares of vineyards in Loreto Aprutino and Pianella, crafted from indigenous varieties including Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano, Pecorino, and Passerina using traditional techniques and aging in a variety of vessels including steel, wood, concrete, and terracotta.
