About the Winery

Widmann Wine (Baron Widmann) is a historic estate in Cortaccia, Alto Adige, with documented winegrowing dating back to Roman times around 300 AD, when remnants of ancient vines were discovered during vineyard work in 1977. The estate's vineyards range from 220 to 600 meters elevation on sunny, sometimes steep slopes, producing wines from indigenous varieties like Schiava and Gewürztraminer as well as Bordeaux varieties including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The family has cultivated agriculture and viticulture since 1824, with their historic manor in the center of Cortaccia serving as both home and winery.
