About the Winery

Walter De Battè is a visionary winemaker in Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, who began making wine in the early 1980s while working at the La Spezia naval arsenal. Through his Prima Terra label, he produces approximately 10,000 bottles annually from 2.5 hectares of 70-year-old vines in the Cinque Terre and 1.5 hectares in Carrara, using indigenous varieties and traditional Mediterranean winemaking methods with skin contact to create deeply expressive wines of sun, salt, and stone.
