Thomas Niedermayr is a pioneering biodynamic and natural wine producer in Appiano, Alto Adige, specializing in PIWI (fungus-resistant) viticulture as an innovative alternative to conventional intensive crop protection. His estate produces wines from PIWI grape varieties including Solaris, Souvignier Gris, and Bronner, grown completely without treatments in the vineyard, with animals freely roaming the property as part of a fully integrated natural ecosystem. Niedermayr's work demonstrates that quality wine production is possible without any chemical interventions, respecting the environment while creating distinctive and expressive wines.
