About the Winery

Praesidium is a small artisanal winery founded in 1988 by Enzo Pasquale and his wife Lucia in Prezza, L'Aquila province, Abruzzo, in the Valle Peligna — considered the birthplace of the Montepulciano grape. The 5-hectare estate is farmed organically with low yields, producing highly regarded Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva and Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore through spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention, now run by their children Antonia and Ottaviano.
