About the Winery

Montelio is one of the oldest wineries in Oltrepò Pavese, founded in 1803 when Angelo Domenico Mazza acquired a former Benedictine monastery in Codevilla. Now in its eighth generation, the 30-hectare estate produces around 60,000 to 70,000 bottles annually from varieties including Pinot Nero, Croatina, Barbera, Cortese, and rare Müller Thurgau, with Edoardo Scanavino reviving the family's historic Metodo Classico production in 2018.
