About the Winery
Le Casematte is a boutique winery in Faro Superiore, Messina, founded in 2008 by Gianfranco Sabbatino and Andrea Barzagli to revive the ancient Faro DOC, one of Sicily's smallest and most historic appellations. The estate takes its name from two World War II casemates that overlook the terraced vineyards, which are planted with native varieties like Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Nocera on steep hillsides above the Strait of Messina.
