About the Winery

Kante is an iconic winery in the Carso plateau near Duino Aurisina, founded by Edi Kante, who in the late 1980s carved an extraordinary cellar 18 meters deep into the Karst limestone. The estate specializes in local grape varieties including Vitovska, of which only about 120 acres exist in the world, all in Carso, as well as Malvasia Istriana, crafting clean, fresh wines that strongly taste of the Karst through fermentation in stainless steel and aging in old French barriques, preserving the character of grapes that are as quirky and personality-filled as the rugged frontier terroir they come from.
