About the Winery

Cantine Astroni is a unique 'metropolitan' winery in the Phlegraean Fields caldera near Naples, where the Varchetta family has nurtured vineyards on the outer slopes of the Astroni crater for four generations since 1892. Today led by Vincenzo Varchetta with enologist Gerardo Vernazzaro, the estate focuses on indigenous Falanghina and Piedirosso grown on volcanic lava and ash soils, continuing a tradition of research and innovation that began when the area was a hunting reserve of Ferdinand of Bourbon.
